Billie Jean King and Ilana Kloss launched the Leadership Initiative in 2014 with a focus on creating a world where workplaces are free of discrimination and inequality.
The Leadership Initiative works with those in positions of power to increase diverse opportunities in the workplace through three actions: Listen, Learn, and Lead.
LISTEN
The Leadership Initiative and Deloitte produced three research publications focused on the tremendous power millennials have to influence the workforce composition of the future and advance workplace diversity.
RESEARCH AND DISCOVERY
Informed by research, we uncover the obstacles that stand in the way of inclusion and help individuals and organizations achieve inclusive leadership. Our research explores opportunities for organizations to leverage inclusive talent to grow the business.
LEARN
On September 19, 2017, we convened leaders from a variety of sectors to hear from Emma Stone, Billie Jean King, Shonda Rhimes and Christiane Amanpour on the importance of equity, inclusion.
CONSTRUCTIVE EVENTS
Through symposiums and constructive conversations, we aim to elevate the dialogue about equity and inclusion as a business imperative by gathering influencers across government, academia, non-profit, entertainment, finance, sports and other sectors to be a catalyst for action.

Robin Roberts recognized with ‘Inspiring Leader’ awards during the 2018 “Champions of Equality-Open for Change” event hosted by the Leadership Initiative at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
