BJKF 2019 - Annual Symposium

“Equity Allies”

New York, September 5, 2019

Our BJKF fundraising event in September 2019 was a more intimate affair given we had partnered with the National Hockey League earlier that year to deliver our Symposium content on the importance of "Advancing Equity". We invited a group of individuals who we deem our BJKF "equity allies" and do the work we believe is most impactful in moving the needle towards a more equitable future. At this event we heard from 4 of our major supporters and partners about what each organization is doing to contribute to social change.

We heard from Porter Braswell, CEO of Jopwell; Elizabeth Broderick, Founder of Male Champions of Change; Sameer Aurora, Head of Strategic Programs at UBS and Gail Boudreaux, CEO of Anthem Inc. We were thrilled to shine a light on these organizations and hear from each about their progress and successes while also recognizing challenges and analyzing stalled societal progress both from a gender and racial equity lens. This event was held in the Billie Jean King photographic exhibit at the USTA Billie Jean King tennis center where the exhibition was on public display for the 3 weeks of the tennis tournament. Following the event our “Equity Allies” joined the BJKF team in Billie Jean’s suite to watch the Women’s Semi-Finals and continue conversations on how business and society can achieve as much historical progress as women’s tennis.
